Remote Presenters

This section describes the typical setup employed for hybrid talks with some or all presenters joining remotely. This is different from a in-person talk because the audio and video in the room needs to be sent back to the remote presenter on top of sending the audio and video from the presenter to the room.

Video

Video is the simpler part of this configuration. The presenter must be in a Jitsi room that the in-person presenter or team is also in. This Jitsi room is captured from the podium in Voctomix and shown on the projector. The Jitsi call should be full screen, which can be done by pressing F11 in the browser window.

Video is sent back to the remote speaker via either a built-in or USB webcam. A USB webcam is preferred, because it allows the camera to be positioned so that it shows the room best. This requires an additional small tripod for the webcam to mount onto.

Audio

The audio routing requires an additional aux bus on the sound mixer. This is because the audio from the presenter should not be sent back to them, causing an echo. The additional aux bus should contain feeds from the presenter and audience radio microphones, and the ambient microphones. This is sent to the podium computer via a USB sound interface.
